2012 Awards
The following awards were graciously contributed by our 2012 Sponsors and will directly benefit deserving dancers in the form of special bursaries, scholarships & awards to be given out at the CoreDance Awards Gala.
SCHOLARSHIPS
“Scholarship Professional Dance Training and Education Program”
Two partial scholarships of $500.00 each towards the Scholarship Professional Dance Training and Educational Program’s 2012/2013 season at Drive Dance Centre.
Criteria: This award will go to a high school graduating student that would like to pursue a career in dance aged 17+.
“ARC Dance Company”
$500.00 tuition will be paid in full by ARC Dance Company for two deserving young dancers to be able to join the company‘s 2012/2013 season without auditioning!
Criteria: Must show a passion for dance on the stage and be between the ages of 11-18 years.
“Drive Dance Centre”
3 full scholarships will be given away to one of each of Drive Dance Centre’s Advanced, Intermediate and Junior Summer Intensive Programs.
Criteria: One scholarship will go to a youth between the ages of 9-12 years, one to a student aged 12-15 years and one to a student 15+ years. The adjudicators will be looking for young dancers who not only push themselves to excel technically but also appear to be focusing on expanding their movement stylistically.
“Kirkwood Academy of Performing Arts”
1 full ride scholarship to Kirkwood Academy’s summer school.
Criteria: This scholarship will be awarded to a student who excels in the classical division of the competition.
“Vibrant Dance Studio”
1 full ride scholarship to Vibe’s summer school.
Criteria: This scholarship will be awarded to a student who excels in the urban division of the competition.
“Groove Street Productions”
1 full weekend registration at any GSP or Street Groove convention.
Criteria: This scholarship will be awarded to a dancer who goes FULL OUT and shows how much they love dancing, regardless of their ability or skill.
“Hollywood Summer Tour”
10 partial scholarships of $500 each towards the Hollywood Summer Tour and Hollywood Summer Tour Kidz.
Criteria: A dancer who demonstrates advanced skills in Jazz, Contemporary or Hip Hop.
“Pursuit of Excellence”
1 full pass to the Pursuit of Excellence youth leadership seminar
Criteria: Must show the willingness to improve ones self, age 15+.
“Karolina Turek Photography”
1 free professional headshot photoshoot.
Criteria: Must show professionalism with the intent to pursue dance professionally.
“High School High”
Free entry in High School High, the best high school hip hop competition.
Criteria: Must be in high school and show a passion for performing.
“Battlezone”
1 free performance opportunity in Battlezone; a popping, all styles and bboy battle in Vancouver.
Criteria: Must hype a crowd.
“Triple Heat”
2 full ride scholarships of $175 each to Gemini Dance Studios’ Triple Heat summer intensive.
Criteria: One intermediate and one senior student who are showcased in as many disciplines as possible and show a pure love for performing.
“Vancouver Circus School”
1 free pass to 1 week of the Vancouver Circus School’s summer camp.
Criteria: A dancer age 6-16 who shows promise in acrobatics and creative arts.
“Stef Lang”
1 free 2 hour vocal lesson from Canadian singer, songwriter, producer and performer Stef Lang, who’s hits include “Slave2Love” and “Paper Doll”.
Criteria: A dancer competing in the Song & Dance category who shows strong vocal and performance qualities.
TOP TEN HIGH SCORES
Top Ten scores are presented to the 10 soloists and 10 groups who have received the highest marks in the entire competition. They will be awarded a glass CoreDance plaque, money, and a framed Techno Monkey Media photograph of the dance.
ADJUDICATORS CHOICE
Each session, our adjudicators will award two Adjudicators Choice awards to dancers of their choosing. Each individual award is completely unique as the Adjudicators think them up as they watch the competition, and can range from “Most expressive dancer” to “Competition’s best abs”. Dancers will receive a CoreDance ribbon and a 5×7 photo of their choice from Techno Monkey Media.

Adjudicators will be giving away free CoreDance gear at random!
