Gala

The Gala will be held at the Port Theatre on May 11, at 7pm.

CoreDance is honored to be able to hold a Gala Showcase at the end of our competition. CoreDance’s Artistic Director, Geneen Georgiev, hails from Gabriola Island and grew up dancing and training in Nanaimo, BC. It is so exciting for her to be able to bring and reward the students of her home town with so many amazing scholarships, awards, and cash prizes! Her vision of CoreDance Competition is to be able to sponsor aspiring young dancers through the Gala Awards Ceremony, create a encouraging and educational forum for young dancers, and to support a creative community and encourage them to support each other!

Committing to the Gala:

At this point, with the current size of the competition, we will only be able to inform each dance of their placement in the top ten highest groups and solos on the day of the Gala (May 11th). Please inform us if you cannot perform in the gala. CoreDance will then give your award to the next deserving student.

Why donate at the door?

All money raised through donations at the door will go directly back to the dancers in the form of awards, scholarships, and cash prizes at the CoreDance Gala. Not a penny of donations are ever used for profit.

Why come to the Gala?

The Top 10 highest scored groups and Top 10 highest scored groups will perform and be awarded, as well as performances from Scholarship at Drive Dance Centre, ARC Dance Company and more surprise guest performers! Special awards, scholarships and cash prizes will also be given out to deserving students chosen by our adjudicators. This means you also run the chance of receiving an award just by watching the gala, even if you are not performing!
