Ashley Sweett

ASHLEY SWEETT is a versatile dance artist who has had the joy of turning her passion for the performing arts into a fulfilling career. She grew up in Langley BC training at a variety of local dance studios while attending The Langley Fine Arts School as a dance major. Following graduation, she continued to train in many forms of dance and theatre at The Source Dance Company, Modus Operandi, School Creative, The Second City ‘Conservatory’ along with various other classes and conventions throughout North America.

At age fifteen, Ashley immediately started working as a performer with PRP Productions under direction of choreographer Jocelyn Peden for events such as the Pacific National Exhibition and 2010 Vancouver Olympics. She has collected an array of dancer credits for film and TV including Netflix (Jen Oleksiuk), Disney (Paul Becker), Nickelodeon (Rosero Mccoy + Kelly Konno), Alliance Films, and Michael Buble.

Ashley has performed works by Liz Tookey for the Times of India Awards and Heather Dotto for Small Stage 35 as well as self-choreographed works for The Lovers Cabaret and Sweett Moves.

Ashley founded her contemporary collective, Sweett Moves in 2013 and has produced, directed and choreographed a full length show titled ‘Bated Breath’ and ‘Sweett Moves Summer Jam’ which featured a handful of Vancouver’s best local artists and performers. Recently, Ashley created a work titled ‘Wander’ with Sweett Moves seeded from a residency with Small Stage. It was performed at Dancing on The Edge, the Small Stage Summer Series, and for the Robson Street Business Association.

Ashley has had the privilege to work alongside choreographers such as Kelly Konno as assistant choreographer for FOXTV’s ‘Lucifer’ and alongside Jen Oleksiuk for Netflix’s ‘Adventures of Sabrina’. She also assisted choreographer Geneen Georgiev on a music video (‘Song About California’) with the Canadian band Hey Ocean. Other production credits include working as a rehearsal director for choreographer Heather Dotto during her residency for Small Stage 36, as Artistic Director and Choreographer for a variety of shows The Lover’s Cabaret alongside Vanessa Young and as choreographer for Canadian band Little India’s music videos (‘Sleep’ and ‘Oola’).

Ashley has been active in the teaching community since 2003 both locally and abroad. She has choreographed and taught pre-professional dance programs such as Lamon Dance Company, Source Dance Company, Helix Dance Company, and The Cecchetti Society of Canada.


Over the past 7 years she has adjudicated throughout Western Canada as well as in Australia and is currently preparing to be a choreographer for Team Canada West who will compete at the 2019 IDO World Championships in Poland this coming Winter. Ashley currently resides in Vancouver BC where she thrives as a well-respected choreographer and dance instructor but travels regularly teach as a guest. She is filled with love and gratitude for every opportunity and relationship this career has given her so far.
