Melena Rounis

Melena Rounis is an extremely diverse dancer, performer & choreographer. She has trained across the board, studying at Simon Fraser University in modern dance (Graham, Cunningham, & Limon techniques) and training internationally in everything from hip hop to house, Chinese & Indian dance styles. She has traveled all over the world, performing in places such as China, Indonesia, Singapore, Vancouver, Toronto & Halifax. She has also performed extensively throughout the United States in events such as choreographers Carnival, Battlezone, tribute shows for artists such as Tina Turner & MC Hammer, & on tour with world-renowned Reggaeton artist Don Omar. Some of Melena’s film and television credits include music videos such as ‘Insatiable’, Elise Estrada’s #1 Canadian pop hit, and ‘Belly Danza’ by Don Omar featuring Beenie Man. Screen credits include Scary Movie 3, The Goodbye Girl (Patricia Heaton ‘Everyone Loves Raymond’), HBO’s Masters of Horror (directed by Toby Hooper ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’), Wickerman (Nicholas Cage), Totally Awesome (Chris Katan ‘Saturday Night Live’) and a new television series this season, Aliens In America. She has also assisted choreographers in films such as RV starring Robin Williams, and Deck the Halls starring Danny DeVito and Matthew Broderick. Most recently Melena has made a business venture with partner Geneen Georgiev contributing to the dance scene in Vancouver by opening Drive Dance Centre (DDC). DDC is a professional training institute where dancers from all over are welcome to come and train in a variety of disciplines, and work on refining their style and technique while increasing their knowledge equally. (www.drivedancecentre.com) Melena is a working professional in high demand who is currently a featured performer in The Beatles Love at The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas for the Cirque Du Soleil. She is also on file with companies such as Royal Carribean, and Universal Studios Tokyo. Melena understands the importance of hard work, professionalism and knowledge of history that has been passed down to her from the many greats she has had the opportunity to take from and work with. These are all things that she is grateful for and is proud to pass down to future generations.
