Melena Rounis

Melena Rounis is an extremely diverse dancer, performer and choreographer. She is currently a featured performer for Cirque Du Soleil in The Beatles LOVE at The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas.

Melena has varied her training, studying at Simon Fraser University in modern dance (Graham, Cunningham, and Limon techniques) and training internationally in everything from hip hop to house, waacking, voguing, ballet, jazz, African, Greek, Chinese & Indian dance styles. She has traveled through out North America and Asia performing in notable dance events such as Choreographers Carnival, Battlezone, Dancing on The Edge, Macau International Dance Festival, tribute shows for artists such as Tina Turner and MC Hammer, as well as on tour with world-renowned Reggaeton artist Don Omar.

Working quite extensively in television and film as both a dancer and assistant choreographer, some of Melena’s credits include America’s Got Talent, the NHL Awards, music videos ‘Insatiable’, for Elise Estrada’s #1 Canadian pop hit, Don Omar’s ‘Belly Danza’ featuring Beenie Man, the hit CBS television series Aliens In America, and HBO’s Masters of Horror (directed by Toby Hooper). Screen credits include Get Him To The Greek (Russell Brand), Scary Movie 3 (Wayans Brothers), Wickerman (Nicholas Cage), Totally Awesome (Chris Katan), and Deck the Halls (Danny DeVito
and Matthew Broderick).

In 2007 Melena made a Business venture to contribute to the dance scene in Vancouver by co-founding Drive Dance Centre (DDC) and the Drive Dance Centre Scholarship Program. DDC is a professional training institute for dancers to expand their knowledge in a variety of disciplines, and work on refining their style and technique while increasing their knowledge equally. www.drivedancecentre.com

Melena is a working professional in high demand. She understands the importance of hard work, professionalism and knowledge of history that has been passed down to her from the many greats she has had the opportunity to take from and work with. These are all things that she is grateful
